Where I’m At After 6 Weeks: Opinions Based On Facts

The most daunting thing about wanting to really get involved in Causes that affect people and help bring about change, is the tremendous amount of research that I have to do! I was prepared for that, yes, but if anything, starting this journey has made me see that I don’t know nearly as much as I thought I did… But that’s where the bad news ends.

In order to have an opinion, you have to know what the story is… And that’s what I am relishing the most about the role I have given myself in this project.

What I’ve discovered so far, is that it’s a lot easier to write about the environment than it is to write about humanitarian issues… There are no top-7-ways-to-do-anything when it comes to religious violence, civil wars, political unrest, etc… It’s really difficult to figure out what we civilians could do in our day-to-day lives to help and find ways of applying it. It starts with educating a public that wants to know about what is happening first, and then figuring out how together we could help, even if it’s in a small way. As far as I’m concerned, anything is better than reading or watching the news on TV, passively. Nothing will change if that’s all we do.

That’s where I’m at these days. There is so much more to come. I hope you will stick around!
