Hosting A Fundraiser Dinner Party For International Women’s Day

I am delighted to say that I am organizing my first fundraiser dinner party. This is something I have wanted to do for a while but have been afraid I guess. As you can imagine, there’s more to these dinners than just cooking for friends and asking them for donations… I have to take some time to present to my guests why we are gathered, for what Cause we are raising money for and hopefully have inspired discussions on how we feel and what we can do to raise more awareness… And for someone who gets stage fright like me, this poses a challenge (but I am really looking forward to tackling it head on).

As an inaugural dinner, I chose to support the important work that Amnesty International does to Stop Violence Against Women. The timing could not be more perfect as I am hosting this dinner March 8th, which is International Women’s Day. This will be the first time I officially observe it.

Did you know that this very important day, which is celebrated all over the world, is in its 93rd year? I had no idea.

My goal is to raise $500 and in order to reach this goal I invited my girlfriends, new and old to come over to my place for a buffet style dinner party. I am asking everyone for a minimum $30 donation, plus a $10 for the food pot. I will receive a host kit from Amnesty’s Taste for Justice Program that will include donation and tax receipt forms, among other support materials. I am also leveraging Facebook Events to manage my RSVPs. You can check out my Event here if you are curious.

If you would like to support me but can’t come, you could always make a donation here. If you could send me an email telling me how much you gave, I sure would appreciate it!
